On top of aiming for the highest scores on industry-standard tests, Tesla aims to make the safest vehicles possible.
Tesla collects data from their fleet of millions of Teslas to learn how real-world crashes happen. It uses that data and runs additional simulations to tune the airbags and seatbelts to protect Tesla drivers even in situations not picked up by regulatory tests.
